It’s that time of year again. Macaulay Tree House is looking for new board members to help make our community a positive and happy place for our children. We are seeking members who are motivated, invested, and interested in having a positive impact on child care in Muskoka.
About Our Board of Directors:
The Board of Directors at Macaulay Tree House is comprised of 10 members, either from the community or parents of the children who attend our programming. Within the 10 positions, there are five executive roles (President, Vice President, Chair of Personnel, Secretary, and Treasurer). These positions are held by Board Members who have been members for over one year.
The Board is responsible for the overall governance of the centre and its staff. This is accomplished through open and transparent communication, collaborative decision-making, and a positive working relationship with the Senior Management Team of Macaulay Tree House. The Board is also structured to promote efficiency through the use of five committees (Personnel, Programming, Property, Finance and Fundraising).
Time Commitment:
We welcome a diverse range of experience and perspectives, and will be providing an orientation session to successful applicants. The following details the commitment required of Board Members:
- Depending on the position(s) you are assigned, the time commitment is approximately 3-10 hours per month.
- Executive roles require more hours as needed.
- Monthly (evening) meetings are held at Macaulay Tree House, which are typically 2-3 hours in length.
- We ask each member to sit on two of five committees.
Why Join?
If your child attends the daycare, the biggest reward is having an influence on the quality of care that is provided. Knowing you have a voice is very appealing to many parents on the Board.
